WE RIDE MOUNTAIN BIKES!

The MidCo Flow Team

MidCounty Composite is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization. We are an independent, mountain bike development and racing team for girls and boys, grades 6-12, in Saint Louis County, Missouri. MidCo welcomes all abilities of student athletes! There are no try outs or cuts, and no one rides the bench. All of our practices and events are structured to accommodate all skill levels. Our MISSION: More Kids On Bikes! Our organization consists of 3 teams - MidCo Middle School, MidCo High School, and Webster Groves High School. We are part of the Missouri NICA League which puts on five race weekends in the fall for all Missouri NICA teams. More race info here.

MidCo FAQ’s:

Is MidCo My Team? MidCo’s territory includes the following school districts: Brentwood, Clayton, Ferguson/Florissant, Hazelwood, Kirkwood, Ladue, Maplewood/Richmond Heights, Normandy, Ritenour, University City, & Webster Groves. If you are not in one of these districts, please email info@missourimtb.org to find your team.

Do I Need My Own Bike? Yes, you are required to have a mountain bike suitable to safely ride and/or race local area trails, along with a helmet (worn at all times!), and tools for basic trailside repairs. Our staff can help guide you in the purchase. We also have a few loaner bikes available for short term “try it out” purposes. These are need based, first come first served, and require a signed agreement. Please reach out to midcoflow@gmail for more info.

How Much Does a Bike Cost? You can expect to pay $800 or more for a suitable, brand new bike. Used bikes are also a good option. Loaner bikes and financial assistance are options for those who qualify.

Where Should I Buy My Bike? St. Louis is blessed with many outstanding bicycle retailers. We suggest starting at our primary shop sponsors, Billy Goat Bicycle Company or the Hub Bicycle Company. Both have expert staffs, and offer our athletes great deals on bikes, service, and accessories.

How Much Does it Cost? NICA Student Athletes’ fees total $550.00 per athlete. NICA national and state fees are $325.00, which covers insurance at NICA events (practices, races and meetings), team practices, rides and race events with certified NICA coaches, a top quality youth sports coaching curriculum and philosophy, and special offers from sponsors of NICA and the league, including discounts on products. Our team fee is $225.00 per person, $175.00 for additional family members, which covers a practice jersey, coach licensing, first aid certification, some coach training, team equipment, and race nutrition and snacks. All costs for travel, lodging, equipment, food, etc. are each Student Athlete’s responsibility and are not covered by NICA or MidCo team fees. Again, financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Does MidCo Offer Financial Assistance? Yes! Assistance is available from NICA, MICL, and MidCounty Composite for those who qualify. Reach out to midcoflow@gmail to apply.

How Often Do You Practice? Two days a week from July through September.

Where/When Do You Practice? Skills practices will be held every Wednesday evening starting 7/2 through 10/15/24. Forest Park, Castlewood, and Meramec Levee Park are our primary locations. Trail rides will be Saturday mornings at Cliff Cave County Park, Castlewood, Creve Coeur County Park, Greensfelder County Park, and Bluffview/Zombie, amongst others. Exact location schedule will be posted to TeamSnap (see below). We will also offer an extra, optional strength training day on Tuesdays at the Sports Medicine Training Center in Crestwood. Time TBD. This will be a separate (deeply discounted) cost.

How Do You Stay In Touch? We use TeamSnap for scheduling and communication. After registration, look for an invite to sign up. We also email and text from time to time, so it’s important to provide your mobile number and email address.
